Could you assess about the performance of the media in updating information related to counterfeit goods, especially fake “made in Vietnam” goods?

Members of the National Steering Committee 389 include representatives of ministries and sectors, including Voice of Vietnam and Vietnam Television.

After the National Steering Committee 389 was established, the National Steering Committee 389 signed Coordination Regulations with media agencies, including Vietnam News Agency, National Assembly Television, Nhan Dan News, and Customs News to coordinate in performing tasks over the past five years.

The Head of the National Steering Committee 389 has requested competent agencies to coordinate with the media agencies. And the media agencies have actively collaborated with these agencies to update information, identify status and make plans to combat counterfeit goods and goods infringing Intellectual Property right in the whole country.

How is the advisory of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389 in directing the fight against smuggling, trade frauds and counterfeit goods implemented, Sir?

The Standing Office is assigned 11 functions and duties by the National Steering Committee 389, including the advisory task for the Committee in directing ministries, sectors and localities to effectively perform.

With the functions and tasks assigned, the leaders and officers of the Standing office has understood situation and worked with ministries, sectors to focus on advising the Head of the National Steering Committee 389 to propose the Government to promulgate Directives and Resolutions to direct ministries and sectors in preventing smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the new situation.

The Standing Office has advised the National Steering Committee 389 to propose the Government to issue Resolution 41 on strengthening the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the new situation.

On the other hand, advising on promulgating Directive 30 on strengthening the fight against cigarette smuggling; Directive 17 on strengthening the prevention of production and trading of low-quality medicine and food, thereby contributing to the protection of domestic production, as well as consumer health.

Thematic plans of the National Steering Committee 389 have achieved positive results such as plan to combat smuggling, production and trafficking of petrol, fertilizer, and plant protection drugs.

Recently, the Standing office advised the Head of the Steering Committee to sign and issue Plan 19 strengthening anti-smuggling, manufacturing and trading goods with forged Vietnamese origin and labels. Ministries, sectors and localities have complied with this plan and achieved initial results.

If the illegal use "Made in Vietnam" labels still occurs, it will greatly affect the legitimate businesses and the domestic and international markets.

Normally, the smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods continues to be complicated at the end of the year. What solutions are proposed by the National Steering Committee 389 to direct ministries, sectors and localities in combating this situation?

The Standing office has update situation in border gates and the inland, thereby advising the Head the National Steering Committee 389 to issue a plan to prevent smuggling, trade frauds and counterfeit goods before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2020 with the motto of preventing from afar acts of illegally transporting goods across borders; focus on inspecting and controlling the market and prevent the production and trafficking counterfeit goods, low-quality goods, goods infringing intellectual property right across borders, affecting legitimate businesses and consumers.
