Over 1,5 billion VND cheated on tax via imported buffalo meat

According to reporter’s research, the cargo was imported by Trading Co. B.A (located at Phu Nhuan district, HCMC). In the Customs declaration by the company, the cargo included 168 tons of frozen boneless buffalo meat, shredded form, made in India and worth more than 3 billion VND. The cargo was classified in Yellow.

After initial inspection, the Customs Branch of Saigon port area 1 detected some suspicious signs so they conducted a physical inspection and found that the company had wrongly declared the goods by name and category.

The actual goods were frozen buffalo meat of all kinds but most of them were wrongly declared by category, except for 4 tons of buffalo meat which matched with the declaration.

In fact, the false declaration of 12 buffalo meat types included tenderloin, ham, thigh, and flank, all boneless with a total weight of 164 tons, worth more than 12 billion VND. According to Customs Branch of Saigon port area 1, the company cheated over 1,5 billion VND on tax.
