Number of customs declaration forms declines: Lao Cai Customs

According to Lao Cai Customs Department, from April 16 to May 15, the total number of enterprises that have carried out customs procedures in the department increased by 98 to 156 businesses. The total number of declaration forms rose by 1,338 to 1,662 forms.

The import and export turnover soared 13.3% to US$110.4 million. The export turnover decreased by 10.3% to US$70.4 million compared with the previous month due to the decline of 21% in phosphorus exports to US$62.9 million.

The import turnover surged US$21 million to US$40 million due to the growth in turnover of major commodities such as fertilizers, coke, agricultural products, consumer goods. The turnover of fertilizer and coke increased 6.2% and 54.7% to US$13.26 million and US$5.17 million, respectively.

Despite the recovery trend, from the early year to May 15, the import and exports activities plunged compared with the previous year as the Chinese government suspended import and export activities for a long time at the Kim Thanh - Ha Khau Border Gate, while there are the largest import and export activities in Lao Cai.

The leader of Lao Cai International Border Gate said exports have resumed but the volume of imports and exports is still limited.

From January 1 to May 15, the number of enterprises decreased by 68 to 375 businesses compared with a year ago. The total number of declaration forms declined by 14,741 to 8,233 forms year-on-year.

Notably, the total trade in goods reached US$534.46 million, down 26.4% compared with the same period in 2021. The export turnover fell 25.5% to US$1 million, and the export turnover declined by 28.3% to US$165.5 million. The major export items are yellow phosphorus, cassava and the major imports are fertilizers, chemicals, coke.

From the period, the department collected US$566.96 billion, meeting 36.8% of the target set by the Ministry of Finance, and increasing by 0.4% compared with the same period in 2021.
