Nearly four tons of Chinese bombay duck fish seized

On December 16, speaking to reporters, the leader of Fleet 1 said: “Implementing the Customs patrol plan on the sea before, during and after the Lunar New Year, No.161/KH-HD1 of Fleet 1, at 5:40 PM on December 14, 2019, in the northeast sea region of the Tonkin Gulf, which is under Vietnamese sovereignty, the working group of Fleet 1 detected and conducted an inspection of waterway vehicles, which were puzzle pieces made of Styrofoam and wood equipped with an engine without license plate were transporting suspicious goods.
During the inspection, there was only one person on the raft, which was Pham Van Dai (address: Group 11, Trang Lo, Tra Co Ward - Mong Cai City - Quang Ninh Province) driving the vehicle.
Pham Van Dai claimed that he was transporting more than 140 boxes of frozen bombay duck fish from China to Vietnam without proof of origin. Dai admitted the goods were illegally transported into Vietnam and did not declare it to the Customs authorities as well as the competent forces.
The working group has made a record and escorted the vehicles to the wharf of Fleet 1 in Ha Long City (Quang Ninh Province) in order to conduct further inspections.
On December 15, Fleet 1 conducted an inspection with the representative of Bach Dang ward Police - Ha Long city (Quang Ninh province) and the representative of Quang Ninh Fisheries Branch.
The inspection results showed that the goods are frozen bombay duck fish packed in plastic bags marinated with cold saltwater and packed in Styrofoam boxes. The quantity was 148 boxes of bombay duck fish, each box was 25kg, with a total weight of 3,700 kg (3.7 tons) of frozen bombay duck fish.
Currently, all goods had been sealed and preserved at the wharf of Fleet 1.
On the same day, Fleet 1 issued a decision to temporarily seize material evidence and vehicles for verification and handling in accordance with the law.
