Support enterprises

Tax authorities in the southern province of Long An conducted further tax inspections and audits and collected an additional VND50 billion worth of taxes in the first five months of the year

According to the Long An Provincial People's Council, the complex development of the Covid-19 pandemic and the disruption of the goods supply chain have made a strong impact on the business, production and consumption of products of firms.

However, total revenue of Long An province by the end of May hit VND,563 billion, reaching 63% of the estimate assigned by the central Government, and 61.37% of the estimate assigned by the provincial People's Council, increasing by 40.06% year-on-year.

Long An Customs Department said as of June 15, revenue from imports and exports was VND2,175 billion, 72.5% of the estimate or 180% compared to the same period in 2020.

Import and export turnover under commercial contracts hit US$8.9 billion, a growth of 39% year-on-year.

The number of firms carrying out customs procedures in the area rose by 16% compared to the previous year.

The number of vessels that went through customs procedures at Long An International Seaport and My Tho Seaport increased by 350% year-on-year.

Director of Long An Customs Department, Nguyen Ngoc Huan said the department has taken measures to combat the Covid-19 pandemic at the highest level and to achieve the Government’s dual goals of fighting the pandemic while facilitating import and export of enterprises, developing the economy and increasing budget revenue.

The department has strengthened customs reform and modernisation associated with improving management efficiency when performing public services, resolving difficulties and problems of enterprises; quickly processed customs procedures to shorten customs clearance time and costs for businesses, especially fresh fruit products during the harvest season.

The department has established working teams with the participation of leaders of departments and branches to work with enterprises with large import and export turnover and revenue to grasp information, providing the best support solutions for businesses.

It has worked with local governments to grasp the orientation of new investment projects feasible in the near future to instruct businesses.

Effectively prevent revenue loss

In the first months of the year, Long An Tax Department has effectively performed its role in the State management of budget revenue.

In first five month of the year, the department has collected VND7,587 billion, 62.3% of the central estimate and 60.2% of the provincial estimate or 131.5% compared to the same period in 2020.

According to Long An Tax Department, such achievements result from the implementation of solutions to raise revenue and prevent tax loss. It has offered solutions to support businesses affected by Covid-19 pandemic such as extending deadlines of tax and land rental payments under Government Decree 52.

Total extended tax and land rent amount is VND84.9 billion. Of those, the extended amount of VAT, corporate income tax and land rental are VND12.9 billion, VND71.9 billion and VND81.7 million, respectively.

In Long An, 332 businesses and 259 business households and individuals have applied for the extension of deadline for tax payment.

The department has directed operational divisions and customs branches to provide information and urge firms to submit applications for the extension of deadline for tax payment in a timely fashion.

It is expected about 10.187 taxpayers are extended deadline of tax payment. Of those, 7,133 taxpayers are enterprises and 3,054 taxpayers are business households and individuals. The total amount of tax and land rent is estimated to be extended is over VND1,306 billion.

Long An Customs Department will conduct tax inspection and audit, prevent tax loss and transfer pricing. The department has inspected firms with high risk of tax refund and enterprises engaged in related-party transactions, illegal use of invoices and documents, and arising tax incentives.

It will strengthen coordination with authorities such as police, prosecutors, banks, and local governments to fight tax evasion and tax fraud, and to effectively implement the fight against revenue loss.
