On November 12th 2018, Hong Ha Shipbuilding Company (Hai Phong) organized a ceremony to launch Customs patrol boat HQ-120 (Serial No. HQ11-91-62) which was built by the company for the General Department of Customs.

Deputy Director General of Customs Nguyen Duong Thai and Colonel Nguyen Van Dac - Political commissar of Hong Ha Shipbuilding Company attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director General Nguyen Duong Thai emphasized that the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and cross-border goods transportation is one of the key and prioritized tasks of the Customs sector.

In order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness in the implementation of this important task, on September 12th, 2011, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1577 / QD-TTg on the approval of the Scheme on ship investment and management of the Customs sector for the period 2011-2020.

For carrying out the Scheme, Hong Ha Shipbuilding Company has completed the new building and handed over the first two 120 HQ boats to the General Department of Customs.

Mr. Thai requested concerned units after the launching to continue to make more efforts to accept, hand over and put the boat in to operation, thereby contributing to fulfilling the task of fighting against smuggling and trade fraud and the task of sea patrol and control.

Colonel Tran The Son, Deputy Director of Hong Ha Shipbuilding Company, said that the HQ-120 was designed by the Military Institute of Ship Design in cooperation with Ship Technology Development Company on the basic model of high-speed patrol boats equipped for Vietnam Coast Guard.

The HQ-120 boat has a length of 34.37m, a maximum width of 6.8m and a displacement of 123 tons.

The boat has a capacity of 5,200 horsepower, is equipped synchronously, has a maximum speed of 30 nautical miles and can operate over a distance of 1200 nautical miles within 15 consecutive days / nights on the sea.

Previously, on May 26th, 2018, Hong Ha Shipbuilding Company handed over to the General Department of Customs the two HQ-120 boats (HQ-11-91-60 and HQ-14-91-17) with technical specifications similar to the boat launched today.

Notably, on September 10th, 2018, after the flag-raising ceremony (August 9th, 2018) and officially put into operation, the boat HQ 11-91-66 under the management of the sea control squadron in the North - the Squadron 1 (under the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department of the General Department of Customs) won the first attack with the arrest of nearly 50,000 liters of A92 petrol, worth about VND 1 billion, in the North Eastern sea.
