According to the branch, the branch, the manual inspection takes about 2 to 5 hours for a shipment, even one to two working days for special cases.

However, since the vehicle is inspected by container scanner, the time from the vehicle go through procedures for analysis until it is out of the scanning area takes from 8 to 10 minutes, and about 20-30 minutes for some special cases, which is much shorter than the manual inspection time.

The goods inspection by the scanner has expedited the customs clearance time of import, export and transit goods; and reduced time and costs for businesses.

The inspection by the scanner has improved the Customs inspection, supervision and control capacity; supported inspection and detection for false declaration of category, quantity, undeclared goods and trade fraud.

In addition, the inspection by the scanner helps identify locations, risks and signs for inspection without loading and unloading the entire shipment for physical inspection by the Customs, especially bulky goods or specialized goods in containers.

Through the scanning of containers, Lao Bao Border Gate Customs Branch discovered 6 cases of administrative violations.

In the near future, the branch will continue to apply operational measures to manage risks of goods and vehicles subject to screening to further improve the efficiency of using container scanners.
