How do you assess the outstanding results of Lang Son Customs Department in recent years?

- Motivated by long tradition, establishing a small unit only including three Import-Export Management Stations at Chi Ma Border Gate, Dong Dang Border Gate and Binh Nghi Border Gate, performing customs procedures for imports and exports, controlling and investigating cases of smuggling, tax evasion, and receiving aid from countries to provide timely support to the Southern front line, Lang Son Customs Department has quickly improved the organizational apparatus, added more officers and built facilities to meet work requirements in the new situation. Lang Son Customs Department is assigned to manage 15 affiliated and subordinate units with 462 officers.

Lang Son is a province located at the gateway to the Northeast, and Lang Son Customs is the department that manages the largest volume of imported and exported goods on the land border in the country. According to statistics from 2019 to July 2023, the import and export turnover at Lang Son Customs Department reached US$14,468.2 million, and possessed customs procedures 4,393.312 exit and entry passengers; coordinated with competent agencies to collect fees of VND 145.3 billion for using border gate infrastructure of 87,464 vehicles. In the period 2019 - 2023, Lang Son Customs collected VND23,002.85 billion. Lang Son Customs Department discovered and handled 5,776 violations, with a value of infringing goods of VND342,031.5 million.

Lang Son Customs Department has made great efforts in reforming administrative procedures, promoting initiatives, improve technical processes, and applying science, technology, and IT to management. The department has regularly focused on preventing smuggling and trade fraud and achieved positive results, contributing to maintaining economic security and order in the province.

To assert itself in the new period, what does Lang Son Customs need to perform to complete its tasks?

- To meet the requirements of integration, development and orientation of the Customs sector, Lang Son Customs Department needs to closely follow the common goal, including implementing the Digital transformation plan in the area, the Plan on Customs reform, development and modernization by 2025, contributing to the implementation of Customs Development Strategy by 2030.

With the specific characteristics of managing complex border areas, including the international border gate and the international railway station, the department needs to consider customs reform and modernization as the key task, promote digital transformation of the Customs sector as a foundation for customs development in the new era. Continue to implement the goal of administrative reform and facilitate trade for import and export activities of businesses across the area.

To protect the interests of national sovereignty, Lang Son Customs should focus on building its capacity, strengthen staff management, and strictly maintaining administrative discipline and promote customs information collection and analysis in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.

Improve and maintain close coordination with competent forces, especially strengthening cooperation and information exchange with the Chinese side in the spirit of solidarity and friendship between the two countries and the two provinces.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary, I wish Lang Son Customs Department always promoted its achievements to build an increasingly strong department, meeting the country's integration requirements and Vietnam's development.

Thanks, Deputy Director General!
