At the ceremony, on behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Finance and the Supreme People's Procuracy, Deputy Minister Vu Thi Mai emphasized that thanks to the close and timely coordination of Department 3 in the processing of cases, the Customs authorities have prosecuted many large and serious smuggling cases.

"Through the coordination with the Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department, Department 3 has brought a number of large and serious smuggling cases into prosecution. The coordination of the two units promptly prevented and repelled smuggling crimes, illegal cross-border goods transportation and trade frauds, contributing to protecting the national economy and preventing budget losses, protecting the people’s health and effectively handling offenders,” Mrs. Mai said.

She suggested that after signing the coordination regulation, the units need to develop plans and thoroughly deploy those plans in each unit.

At the same time, the leaders of the two units must have working sessions to discuss the results of coordination work every six months.

At the signing ceremony, Director General Nguyen Van Can affirmed the positive results in the coordination between the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department and Department 3 over the past time.

He directed the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department to continue to enhance its role in investigation, reconnaissance and settlement of violation cases of customs law. Also, continue to do good coordination with Department 3 in handling cases related to smuggling activities and other violations in the field of customs.

According to the Director of Department 3 Nguyen Van Quang, the import-export violations have become more complicated. Therefore, the coordination between Department 3 and the Investigation and Anti-smuggling Department should be further strengthened for effective prevention.

At the same time, it is necessary to handle drastically, promptly and severely the violations in order to increase deterrence.

Mr. Quang said that from the recent results of investigation and verification by the Customs Department, Department 3 has been actively coordinating with C46 under the Ministry of Public Security to consider and continue criminal prosecution of some violation cases related to scrap imports.

Under the newly signed regulation, the coordination between the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department and Department 3 will focus on the following key contents: Informing, sending, providing information and documents in accordance with regulations of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Handling crime denunciations and proposals for prosecutions according to the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code; coordinating in prosecution and dealing with criminal cases according to relevant legal documents.
