Hanoi Customs, Vientiane Customs (Laos) cooperate to exchange information

From August 19 to August 24, 2024, the Vientiane Customs delegation (Laos) led by Mr. Phouthanikone Khennavong, Head of Vientiane Customs, visited and worked with Hanoi Customs Department. Within the framework of the visit, on August 20, Hanoi Customs and Vientiane Customs (Laos) held a meeting.
At the meeting, Director of Hanoi Customs Department Duong Phu Dong and Mr. Phouthanikone Khennavong discussed the latest situation of customs work in recent times of each side, especially efforts in administrative reform and customs modernization.
Leaders of Hanoi Customs Department and Vientiane Customs (Laos) also exchanged information on coordination between professional units, in order to create favorable conditions for trade activities between the two countries, towards to international standards on customs for countries in the region.
In recent times, leaders of both sides have regularly paid attention and focused on directing professional units in coordinating, providing, exchanging information and performing assigned tasks.
Regarding cooperation in the coming time, the two sides agreed to continue to be proactive and increase the exchange of information related to the following areas: digital transformation; import and export tax collection and anti-smuggling and anti-drug transportation via air and ICD ports; management, inspection and supervision of transportation of goods in express delivery; customs inspection, supervision and management of imported and exported goods by international railway; post-customs clearance audit.
The two sides agreed to build a focal point between Vientiane Customs (Laos) and Hanoi Customs Department; Border gate-level focal point assigned to Wattay International Airport Customs and Noi Bai International Airport Customs; Gia Thuy Customs, North Hanoi Customs with Thanalaeng Dry Port Customs and Huu Nghi Bridge No. 1.
Leaders of Hanoi Customs Department and Vientiane Customs (Laos) also agreed to organize a working delegation from Hanoi Customs Department (Vietnam) to visit and work in Vientiane and a working delegation from Vientiane Customs (Laos) will visit and work in Hanoi in 2025.
At the same time, leaders of both sides agreed on a policy to allow units to exchange and learn from each other's experiences between pairs of border gates.
