According to preliminary statistics of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, from August 1 to August 27, Hai Phong Customs Department collected VND 4,090 billion.
Thereby, increasing total revenue collection from the beginning of the year to VND 34,733 billion. The result of revenue collection of Hai Phong Customs hit only 51.84% of current appropriation (target of VND 67,000 billion), contributing 17.6% to the revenue collection of the whole sector.
Notably, the department's revenue plummeted to VND 10,889 billion over the same period in 2019 (the same period last year was more than VND 45,622 billion).
The decrease in revenue at Hai Phong Customs Department is in a difficult context due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on import and export activities, especially the decline of groups of imported goods that contribute large amounts of tax.
In July, the total import-export turnover of the whole department reached about $7.579 billion, up 10.4% over the same period in 2019.
Although import turnover reached $3,896 billion, up 4.6% over the same period in 2019, import turnover with tax was only $1,525 billion, down 8.1%.
Import goods with the strongest reduction in tax rates are still automobile and components and spare parts. Import turnover of automobiles reached $31.49 million, down 56.1%; components and spare parts of automobiles reached $10.79 million, down 76.5%; and motorbike components and spare parts reached $0.8 million, down 50.2%.
