Hai Phong Customs seizes 1 million packs of cigarettes counterfeited 555 brand
Customs force conducted inspection for containers containing counterfeit cigarettes |
On September 12, the leader of the Customs Enforcement Team (Hai Phong Customs Department) said that through collecting information and grasping the situation, the Customs Enforcement Team discovered two containers transported on the Bright Laem Chabang ship/1825N from Sihanoukville port (Cambodia) to Dinh Vu port (Hai Phong).
The consignor was Wong's Enterprise Limited (Cambodia) and the commodity was cigarettes. Initial information showed that the consignee has refused to receive the goods.
Identifying the consignment showing signs of violations of the law, the Customs Enforcement Team worked with competent units to inspect and verify the above two shipments.
According to a recent inspection, the goods were cigarettes labelled 555 brand (identified as counterfeit trademark) with the quantity of more than 1 million packs. This was a case of law violation of counterfeit goods relating to cigarettes with the largest number ever seized by Hai Phong Customs.
The case is being investigated by the Customs authority.

“The infringing goods were in large quantity; subjects used sophisticated tricks; taking advantage of State policies for goods in transit, deposited into bonded warehouses, temporarily imported and re-exported to commit violations by transporting goods through the territory of Vietnam to a third country via the seaport in Hai Phong area. The subjects hooked up with domestic and foreign organisations and individuals to commit transnational violations,” the representative of the Hai Phong Customs Enforcement Team said.
According to the Hai Phong Customs Enforcement Team, the unit will continue to strengthen the management of the area, collect and exchange information and coordinate in the fight against smuggling and counterfeiting; regularly inspect, control and fight that focused on the line and group, especially from now until the end of 2020 and the Lunar New Year.
Promoting measures to communicate and mobilise people to provide information denouncing violations related to smuggling, counterfeiting, impairment of quality and the illegal transport of goods across border.
