Hai Phong Customs prosecutes 13 cases of criminal violation

According to Hai Phong Customs Department, from the beginning of 2020 up to now, the department has seized 32 cases of smuggling and illegal transport of goods across border and 19 cases of importing counterfeit goods with the total value of exhibits more than VND 137 billion.

Besides that, the unit worked with the authorities to seize four drug cases, arrest five subjects, seize 23 bricks of heroin, 17.3 kg of meth, 1 kg of ketamine, 24,000 pills of synthetic drugs and 665 kg of cannabis resin.

Notably, Hai Phong Customs Department decided to prosecute 13 cases of smuggling and illegal transport of goods across border and transfer case dossiers to Investigation Police Agency of Hai Phong City Police and Hai Duong Provincial Police to investigate and prosecute nine cases. In particular, many typical cases of law violation with sophisticated methods and tricks were discovered for the first time.

Regarding the handling of administrative violations, the total number of handling decisions issued by the department and advising the Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee was 4,277 decisions, and sanctioning monetary penalties worth VND 24.67 billion.

Regarding the handling of exhibits to put into public funds, backlogged goods that were determined as people's ownership (as of December 15, 2020), 74 cases have been handled with a total amount of VND 28.29 billion.

In addition, the amount of money collected from the sale of exhibits of violating consignments transferred to the police for prosecution is worth VND 12.8 billion.
