Impressive results

The business community in Ha Tinh province has seen a strong recovery since public health is under control. The enterprises have carried out customs procedures for beverages, consumer goods, tapioca starch, electronic goods, sawn timber, and wood chips. Therefore, the turnover and revenue of these items have surged compared with the same period of the year ago.

The local customs department has attracted 346 enterprises inside and outside the province to carry out procedures across the area, up 0.28% yearly.

The department has processed customs clearance for 10,000 declarations. As a result, the total trade in goods rose by 3.4% compared with the same period of the previous year to about US$3.9 billion.

Mr Cao Duc Thang, Head of the Technical Division of Ha Tinh Customs Department, said that as of September 25, the department’s revenue increased by 27.97% year-on-year to over VND7,677.16 billion, meeting 90.85% of the estimate and 87,24% of the ambitious target.

Vung Ang Customs Branch, Cau Treo Customs Branch and Xuan Hai Customs Branch collected VND7,243.69 billion, VND 374.23 and VND59.10 billion, respectively.

In the first nine months of the year, Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Iron and Steel Co., Ltd alone paid more than VND4,187 billion in import duty, including VND455 billion of import duty on machinery and equipment, up 103% year-on-year, and over VND3,732 billion of import duty from raw materials for production, up 196% over the same period in 2021.

Striving to collect the highest revenue

According to Mr Cao Duc Thang, the department must collect VND250 billion on average per month in the remaining three months of the year. The strong recovery of business production of enterprises will help the department complete the revenue target.

However, in addition to promoting reform and creating maximum favourable conditions for businesses, Ha Tinh Customs requests its subordinate units to review revenue sources and promote solutions to prevent revenue loss, anti-smuggling and trade fraud through codes and prices.

The branch will also discuss and grasp the production plans of enterprises, thereby providing solutions in line with reality.

In addition, to support enterprises in customs compliance, limit violations to become authorized economic operators, and expedite tax payment 24/7, the branch will promote the post-clearance audit and combat smuggling and trade fraud to increase local revenue.

Mr Nguyen Duy Linh, Deputy Director of Laos - Vietnam Port Joint Stock Company, said the company is accelerating business activities to achieve the target. It is promoting the completion of Vung Ang Port No.3, designed with a throughput capacity of nearly 2 million tons/year and the capacity to receive ships of up to 45,000 DWT.

It is expected that by the end of the fourth quarter of 2022 or the beginning of the first quarter of 2023, the company will put the port into official operation, bringing the total capacity of three ports of the company to over 6 million tons/year.
