Patrol activities at sea for anti-smuggling by Vietnam Customs.

On the afternoon of October 18, the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department held a conference to deploy coordination in customs control and anti-smuggling activities before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2020. Director General Nguyen Van Can attended and gave directions at the conference.

Attending the Conference were Deputy Director General of Customs Nguyen Cong Binh and representatives of competent units of the Ministry of Public Security, High Command of Border Guard and High Command of Coast Guard.

Speaking at the Conference, Can praised and highly appreciated the achievements of the Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department and the customs control force of the whole sector.

Determining the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and illegal cross-border transportation of goods as the leading task of the Customs sector, the Director General requested the Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department and competent units to continue to uphold the sense of responsibility, effectively carry out this important political task, contributing to ensuring public security and safety and combating budget loss in the context of increasing crimes of smuggling and illegal cross-border transportation of goods, especially transnational drug crimes with complicated developments.

Regarding the anti-smuggling plan before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2020, the Director General directed the Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department to further improve relevant contents. In particular, the fight and prevention against not only traditional and high-risk products such as alcohol, beer and cigarettes but also needs to be expanded, especially focusing on goods at high risk of fraud and violations which are being drastically directed by the Government and the 389 National Steering Committee in the current period.

At the same time, it is necessary to closely combine the plan of the Customs sector with the plans of the Standing Office of the 389 National Steering Committee.

At the Conference, Nguyen Van Can suggested the relevant ministries and agencies continue to coordinate effectively with the Customs sector in performing the task of preventing and combating smuggling, trade fraud and illegal cross-border transportation of goods, including peak periods before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2020.

Previously, on behalf of the Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department, Deputy Director Nguyen Khanh Quang had directed the key contents related to the plan for combating smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and illegal cross-border transportation of goods, before, during and after the Lunar New Year in 2020.

The important objective is to strictly follow the directions of the Government, the Prime Minister, the 389 National Steering Committee and the Ministry of Finance.

Along with that, in the upcoming peak period, the Customs sector, especially the Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department and the customs control force of the whole sector, will strengthen patrol and control to promptly detect, prevent and handle crimes of smuggling and illegal cross-border transportation of goods.
