Implementing platform to connect digital border gate and smart border gate

According to the Customs Industry’s Digital Transformation Plan to 2025, orientation to 2030, the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC) has added tasks of deploying a Digital border gate and smart border gate connection platform, and assigned the tasks to units.

Specking to Customs Magazine, the representative of the Customs Information Technology and Statistics Department (under the General Department of Vietnam Customs) said that, regarding tasks, based on practical management requirements and legal documents, the GDVC requires the units proposes to cooperate with other Customs administrations in building and implementing the Digital border gate and smart border gate connection platform, as follows:

The units are assigned to research and build an overall model to connect and develop operational processes and legal framework to serve the execution of Digital border gate and smart border gate connection platform.

Research and propose the pilot implementation of the Digital border gate and smart border gate connection platform at Customs Departments eligible for implementation, especially, focusing on piloting the Smart border gate model with China Customs in Lang Son province.

Report to the Ministry of Finance and the Government on the policy of strengthening cooperation with the US Customs and Border Protection. Select a major seaport pair of the US and Vietnam to pilot advance cargo information exchange.

Review and assess the implementation of Digital border gate and smart border gate connection platform at Customs departments and propose to implement official performance.

The GDVC assigns the Customs Control and Supervision Department to preside and coordinate with the Customs IT and Statistics Department, and local customs departments and relevant units to execute the Digital border gate and smart border gate connection platform at local customs departments meeting requirements.

In the immediate future, consider connecting digital border gates and smart customs at Lang Son Customs Department with the US Customs and Border Protection to pilot advance cargo information exchange, including customs declarations, transport information, origin and other information related to imports and exports and transportation Vietnam and the US.

The Customs IT and Statistics Department is in charge of implementing technical contents on the digital border gate and smart border connection platform at the local customs departments.

The GDVC assigns local customs departments to coordinate with the Customs IT and Statistics Department, the Customs IT and Statistics Department and relevant units to perform the Digital border gate and smart border gate connection platform at the local customs departments.

Regarding the GDVC’s Digital Transformation Plan in 2023, the GDVC added the task of Digital border gate and smart border gate connection platform, and assigned tasks to units.

The Customs IT and Statistics Department is in charge of proposing technical contents on the digital border gate and smart border connection platform at the local customs departments.

Local customs departments are required to coordinate with the Customs Control and Supervision Department, the Customs IT and Statistics Department and relevant units to implement the platform at the local customs departments.
