From the 13th meeting in 2019 to 2022, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual meetings between the two sides were not held.
However, the friendly cooperative relationship between four Vietnam’s customs departments, Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Ha Giang and Hai Phong and China’s Kunming Customs has grown enormously, promoting the development of cross-border trade between the two regions and two countries.
At the 14th meeting, the two sides discussed and assessed achievements in implementing the Memorandum of Understanding of the 13th meeting held in Kunming in June 2019.
At the same time, the two sides reported results in customs modernization, development of Digital Customs and Smart Customs, and anti-smuggling. In addition, the two sides discussed cooperation contents shortly, especially strengthening cooperation in anti-smuggling, facilitating trade, protecting intellectual property rights, enhancing efficiency in border gate management, training customs officers and improving cooperation at border gates of both sides.
At the meeting, delegates exchanged experiences with Hon Gai Border Gate Customs Branch (Quang Ninh Customs Department) to further enhance the friendly cooperative relationship between the Customs administration of the two countries.
The organization of the regular meetings between the two Customs administrations will boost bilateral cooperation and support, thereby contributing to further strengthening the friendly cooperative relationship between the two sides.
