Providing ideal solutions to support enterprises

According to Mr Phuoc Vinh, Head of the Business Planning Department of International Seafood Joint Stock Company, to meet the year-end consumer demand in 2022, the company has promoted Tra fish exports to other countries. As a result, the company has exported about 30 containers of Tra fish per month.

Currently, all customs procedures are processed online. In addition, the company has been facilitated by Sa Dec Seaport Customs Branch, even on Saturdays and Sundays. Therefore, the company's frozen seafood shipments that must persevere are ensured for timely exports.

Not only frozen seafood consignments but goods exported across border gates in Dong Thap, mainly agricultural products, and goods processed and produced for export are also always facilitated by Dong Thap Customs Department.

The representative of Nghi Phong Joint Venture Company - a large company in Dong Thap province specializing in manufacturing and processing export shoes for famous trademarks for eight years in Vietnam, said the company had been facilitated by Dong Thap Customs Department, especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic period.

"Recently, the working team led by the director of the department visited and encouraged the company and recorded the difficulties of the company. This showed the support of the Customs to businesses," the representative said.

In 2022, the Covid-19 pandemic was under control, especially since April; border residents have been allowed to enter and exit across the border gate, creating favourable conditions for the socio-economic recovery and development in the province. Furthermore, the dong Thap Customs Department has strictly taken Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control measures; ensured safe, flexible adaptation and maintained normal operations of agencies and units; and provided good service and facilitated import and export activities.

The local customs department has provided creative solutions to support businesses. According to Deputy Director of Dong Thap Customs Department Nguyen Huu Thanh, in addition to developing the Customs and Business partnership by signing arrangements and organizing dialogue conferences with businesses, the department has gathered feedback from enterprises in the customs process.

Creating a healthy investment environment

Director of Dong Thap Customs Department Nguyen Thanh Toan said that in 2022, the department collected VND400 billion, increasing by four times compared to the target and exceeding the target for the second time. This achievement results from the department's great efforts and the business community's contribution.

The import and export turnover of enterprises at Dong Thap Customs Department has shown remarkable growth. According to Director Nguyen Thanh Toan, Dong Thap Customs Department in 2022 processed procedures for 18,200 declarations with a turnover of US$860, up to 3,200 declarations compared with the same period in 2021.

To perform tasks well, the department has complied with operational processes and followed leaders' directions in working performance. The department has also reported to the General Department of Vietnam Customs about difficulties in supervising goods by Positioning Electronic Seal for liquid and bulk cargoes. The department issued written directions to direct customs branches to strengthen customs supervision, complied with new regulations and resolved problems for customs branches in implementing Customs Law and relevant documents.

The local customs department has focused on anti-smuggling, and trade fraud to create a healthy business environment to attract foreign investors, protect domestic enterprises, and increase export turnover.

The leader of Dong Thap Customs Department said after Covid-19 was under control, the transportation of smuggled goods surged. Therefore, the department has effectively implemented plans to combat smuggling and trade fraud.

The department has also coordinated with local government agencies to strengthen patrol and prevent the smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across border gates. As a result, the situation was controlled and prevented from smuggling rings and gangs. In 2022, the department arrested 130 customs offences, fined 37 cases with a fine worth over VND8 billion and infringing goods valued at VND 665 million.
