Detective dogs of customs sniff out drugs
Meer weeks ago, detection dogs of the Customs force discovered cocaine hidden in an envelope sent from the UK via air post to Noi Bai Airport.

On May 2, the leader of the Management, Training and Use of detection dogs Unit (Unit 8, Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department, General Department of Vietnam Customs) said: Implementing periodic plans at the Express Customs Branch (Hanoi Customs Department), on April 22, 2019, the unit assigned customs official using detection dog to inspect at the Customs Procedures and Security Screening Post Office under Northern International Postal Service Center (Soc Son, Hanoi).
“By 4:00PM on the same day, when performing duty, suddenly a detection dog had reactions to an envelope like barking and wagging its tail. This was a sign of drug detection. This envelope was sent from England to an individual in Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi "- Leader of Unit 8 said.
Dealing with the above sign, Unit 8 worked with the Northern Anti-Smuggling Enforcement Unit (Unit 5, Anti-Smuggling and InvestigationDepartment), Express Customs Branch (Hanoi Customs Department), Customs Procedures and Security Screening Post Office(Northern International Postal Service Center) to open envelopes for inspection.
According to the inspection results, inside the envelope contained two drug packages was identified as cocaine, weighing a total 28 grams (including packaging).
"Although the number of drugs is not large, it was the first time that the detection dogs of the Customs force have directly detected drugs," leader of Unit 8 added.
The case is being investigated by the Customs force.
