This is one of the contents that the Director General of Vietnam Customs Nguyen Van Canmetioned at the National Conference on preliminary review of performancein the first half of 2019 and the deployment of the tasks in the futureof the Steering Committee 138/CP and National Steering Committee 389 which waschaired by Standing Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh on July 25.
Recently, the situation of foreign goods that has been under the guise of Vietnam goods for trade fraud, tax evasion and avoiding specialised inspection has occurred.
Can said that regarding ASANZO-branded goods, the Customs prosecuted and transferred the case to the Police Authority for the act of making false origin to import goods into Vietnam for consumption.
The Customs forces have investigated and verified the case to soon draw conclusions and identify violation of intellectual property, production and consumptions of counterfeit goods.
In the first half of 2019, the Customs force detected and handled nearly 11,000 violations and the value of infringing goods was over VND 1,000 billion.
Particularly, domestic smugglers colluded withforeign smugglers to illegally transport goods into Vietnam.
Can also said that through arrests conducted by the Customs force in coordination with the Police and Border Guard forces, it showed that the smuggling and illegal transportation of goods via scrap imports into Vietnam was a problem.
However, at seaports and border gates, smugglers imported goods from neighboring countries, then gathered these goods at borders and divided them into small quantities fortransportationinland.
Can requested Customs units in border provinces, especially in the border provinces of the Southwest, to strengthen measures, coordinate and prevent this situation.
From cases related to the illegal transportation of banned goods such as drugs, ivory, rhino horn and pangolin scales, it shows that smugglers established “bogus” enterprises to collude with domestic enterprises and foreign enterprises and use tricks to transport banned goods into Vietnam.
Through investigation, competent forces discovered cases that have only a perpetrator but this perpetrator managed dozens of enterprises; even cases of hiring personswho have criminal records to manage them.
