Customs supervised 5.870 containers at Hai Phong international container terminal

Through a discussion with Customs News reporter, the deputy manager of Dinh Vu port Customs Branch (Hai Phong Customs Department) Do Minh Khoa said, for about 2 months of performing duties at HICT (from 13/5 to 12/7) the unit supervised 5,870 containers, in that 3,823 containers were imported and 2,047 containers were exported.

"The process of monitoring import-export goods at HICT, units have not detected any violations. At the same time, the termination has not found a situation of backlogged containers," added Mr. Do Minh Khoa.

HICT is located in Cat Hai Town, Cat Hai District, Hai Phong City, is the first deep-water port in the northern key economic zone, and was officially opened and operated from 13/5/2018.

The port has a total area of 44.9 hectares, with two container terminals of 750 meters in length, depth is 14 to 16 meters (excluding tides) that are capable of accommodating a container ship with maximum load up to 14,000 teus (standard container) and a composite ship with full capacity up to 160,000 DWT (equivalent to 160,000 tons) for directly transporting export and import goods from the northern area to Europe and the Americas on the mother ships instead of transiting to another port like before.

HICT is capable of receiving and clearing goods with a total volume of 1.1 million teus/year.

The port has been operated and invested by a joint venture between Saigon NewPort Corporation (which holds 51% of capital), MITSUI O.S.K Lines Co.,Ltd, Taiwan Wan Hai Lines and Japanese Itochu Corporation.

Regarding the customs officials arrangement for implementing import-export procedure and customs management at HICT, Hai Phong Customs Department has taken the initiative and timely arranged enough forces and facilities to ensure the implementation of customs procedure for the business community and ensure the state management in customs area.

In addition the connection of Automatic Customs Management system at seaport - VASSCM, Hai Phong Customs Department instructed the Customs Enforcement Team to regularly deploy patrol boats and training staff for patrolling to ensure good management at HICT.
