Customs sector sets target to make customs brokers more professional

VCN – The General Department of Vietnam Customs directed provincial Customs Departments to deploy the developing and enhancing quality of customs brokers plan in the period 2019 – 2021. This Plan was signed on June 27.

According to the plan, the General Department of Vietnam Customs aimed to develop customs brokers to become more professional and reliable, playing an important role in the customs declaration and clearance procedures activities for import and export goods.

The specific objectives included: completing policies and laws about customs brokers; facilitate export and import activities via customs brokers; support customs brokers to improve the capacity and quality of implementing customs procedures; promote the cooperative development between customs, businesses and customs brokers; transparency of customs brokers’ activities; improve management efficiency of customs brokers.

The works for implementing the plan have been guided by the General Department of Vietnam Customs including: content, output products, implementation time, assignment of implementation.

As of June 24, 2019, there were about 1,100 customs brokers that were recognized by the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
