Customs recover nearly 1,000 billion VND of debt in 7 months

As known that the amount of debt collection in the first 7 months of 2018 was 5,177.85 billion VND. In that, the bad debt group was 3,834.36 billion VND; debt forgiveness group, exemption, reduction or extension was 116.49 billion VND; group of recoverable debt was 1,227.01 billion VND.
Thus, in comparison to 2017, the amount of debt in the first 7 months has been reduced by 135.9 billion VND (equivalent to a decrease of 2.56%) over last year.
Counting only the amount of debt recovery, in the first 7 months of 2018, the provincial Customs Departments have been very active in collecting and handling debt. The total amount of debt that has been recovered and handled in the first 7 months of 2018 was 934 billion VND (in that, the amount of debt collected before 1/1/2018 was 393 billion VND, the amount of debt collection in the first 7 months of 2018 was 541 billion VND).
In order to enhance the work of debt collection, in 2018, the General Department of Vietnam Customs requested local customs authorities to focus on reviewing and grasping the situation of tax debts at Customs Branches under the management of Customs Department and classifying the recoverable debt groups; bad debts; pending debt. Each debt group should have a detailed assessment of each debt in each declaration form and each enterprise that owes debt in accordance with the guidance in the Decision No. 1505/QD-TCHQ dated 18/5/2015, enclosed with detailed dossiers.
Besides that, the General Department of Vietnam Customs requested all the amount of debts of the above three groups must have detailed dossiers, appropriate with the data of debt tracking in the system and the amount of tax debt which is to be reported to the General Department of Vietnam Customs. In the case where the debt management dossiers are lost, incomplete or incompatible with the figures of debt management, the units should take initiative actions for searching, completing and supplementing dossiers and take full responsibility to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
