VCN - That is the goal that the collective of leaders, officials and workers of Customs Magazine set at the Conference to summarize the work in 2023, deploy tasks in 2024 and the Conference of officials, civil servants and public employees, held on January 17, 2024.

Attending to direct the conference were Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy Director General of the Customs General Department Nguyen Van Tho, representatives of leaders of departments and agencies along with all leaders, officers and workers of Customs Magazine.

Imprint 2023

Reporting the results for 2023, Editor-in-Chief Vu Thi Anh Hong said that last year, Customs Magazine successfully completed the key tasks set out for the year. Accordingly, in 2023, Customs Magazine has focused on improving the quality of content and publication form by innovating the interface of Customs Online e-Magazine from June 2023, the English page interface according to the direction of personalizing readers' needs, attracting traffic, and improving communication efficiency.

In addition, Customs Magazine successfully organized the 2023 Customs - Business Annual Forum with the theme "Vietnam Customs: Creating new motivation for businesses to recover and break through" and praised outstanding businesses that actively participate in the "Pilot program to support and encourage businesses to voluntarily comply with customs laws". The forum was highly appreciated by leaders of the General Department, units under and under the General Department of Customs, associations of foreign businesses in Vietnam, associations of domestic commodity enterprises, import-export enterprises, reporters of press and media agencies.

Notably, Customs Magazine actively participated in communication activities at the 2023 Technology Conference and Exhibition event of the World Customs Organization (WCO) held in Hanoi from October 10 to October 12, 2023. Also on this occasion, Customs Magazine opened a special page to serve events and enhance media promotion activities, so the number of readers accessing Customs Online e-Magazine increased to 2.5 million times/month (nearly double compared to the previous month).

Customs Magazine continues to deploy solutions to improve content quality - accessibility to attract readers; Organize news articles in a topical, in-depth manner. The English-language website increasingly attracts domestic and foreign readers to pay attention and seek information.

Organizes the production of 48 podcast news reports on economic, import-export issues highlighted each week. There have been more than 15,000 news, articles, and photos posted on Customs Online e-Magazine and more than 12 million readers have accessed it. Some notable series and articles include the Review of the Customs Law after more than 8 years of implementation; Customs sector: Handling tax debt from flexible to tough, etc.

At the same time, thanks to proactively building plans from the beginning of the year, despite many difficulties in calling for businesses to accompany the media, Customs Magazine has flexibly coordinated with units inside and outside the sector to successfully organize 4 seminars, 1 live forum, 2 online seminars.

Be proactive in the Sector's communications role

At the conference, Deputy Director General Nguyen Van Tho congratulated and highly appreciated the results that Customs Magazine has achieved in 2023. In particular, Customs Magazine has maintained close adherence to the pace and speed to propagate policy mechanisms, major policies, and key plans of the General Department of Customs and the Ministry of Finance; Select key content to deploy bold propaganda in the unit's publications, thereby raising issues and orienting information to the business community and people.

In coordination work, Customs Magazine has coordinated with the General Department Office to proactively select key issues of the Sector such as: budget collection; combat smuggling and trade fraud; Customs modernization, etc, conveys a lot of information to confirm that the Customs sector is always at the forefront of administrative reform and customs modernization. In addition, Customs Magazine has coordinated with the Department of International Cooperation and the Office of the General Department to effectively carry out communication work before, during and after the 2023 WCO Conference and Technology Exhibition and has received many positive reviews from domestic and foreign speakers and delegates.

Deputy Director General Nguyen Van Tho emphasized that in 2023, Customs Magazine drastically strengthened its organizational structure and actively participated in building a streamlined model; Coordinated with the Department of Personnel and Training to focus on implementing plans to recruit additional personnel. In particular, in 2023, the economy had many difficulties, with a shrinking scale, but the Customs Magazine did a good job in implementing the key tasks of propaganda and communication on customs modernization through seminars, conference.

Entering 2024, facing the requirements placed on the development of the Customs sector in general and the development of the press in particular, Deputy Director General Nguyen Van Tho said that Customs Magazine needs to closely follow the propaganda orientation of Regular and outstanding activities of the Sector.

In particular, Deputy Director General Nguyen Van Tho requested:

Firstly, continue to do a good job of propaganda, proactively coordinate with units in the Sector to research and effectively implement plans, in which, closely follow the propaganda of the key contents of the Sector; continue to propagate the development of the Vietnam Customs Development Strategy until 2030, the building of digital Customs, and the smart Customs model.

Second, proactively coordinate with units to understand the situation and reflect information on hot issues and issues of public concern; coordinate to provide and provide feedback on important issues related to the customs field; Coordinate with the General Department's Office in building content and providing image materials to produce the Vietnam Customs program on VTV1 channel. Strengthen production and improve the quality of comprehensive propaganda video clips about customs work, creating a deeper spread of the image of the Customs agency as "Professional - Transparent - Effective".

Third, continue to effectively implement the Customs Magazine Development Project for the period 2021-2025, oriented to 2030 according to the Decision of the General Department of Customs. Accordingly, it strives to better its role as the mouthpiece of the General Department of Customs, continuing to build Customs Magazine to truly become a modern, multimedia communication agency of the Sector with in-depth, trustworthy economic information of readers nationwide, wide spread, meeting the requirements of integration and modern customs management; continue to be the main and core unit in implementing the communication tasks of the Customs sector.

Fourth, actively and effectively implement the Regulations on providing and using information, documents and materials to serve the press and communication work of the General Department of Customs approved by the Director General of the General Department of Customs in Decision No. 708/QD-TCHQ dated April 4, 2023. With the goal of promoting the role and effectiveness of journalism and communication work by promoting professional tasks, political and ideological education and building an image of formal and modern Vietnam Customs.

Fifth, Customs Magazine continues to provide information to the public, ensuring it is a reliable and oriented source of information to create public interest and consensus on customs state management activities. Proactively develop plans to propagate legal policy mechanisms, actively support businesses in accessing, grasping, and understanding legal regulations, and encouraging the business community to participate in criticism and improvement of customs legal policies by increasing in-depth content; encourage and praise businesses for good compliance with the law; criticize businesses that violate and commit fraud during customs procedures. Move forward to turn the communication activities of Customs Magazine into a permanent professional activity and closely linked with the basic professional activities of Vietnam Customs.

Sixth, proactively discuss with units in the Sector to grasp the program and plan content to build detailed propaganda content about major events of the year such as: Conference of Directors General of ASEAN Customs; Propagating the 80th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam Customs and the 7th Congress of typical and advanced delegates of the Customs sector, etc.

Seventh, Customs Magazine needs to promote innovation in propaganda form and content; Organize seminars and forums to attract many businesses and economic sectors to participate; continue to research and proactively do a good job of handling media crises with the goal of not covering up limitations, shortcomings, etc.

At the conference, under authorization, Deputy Director General Nguyen Van Tho awarded the Second Class Labor Medal to 1 collective and 1 individual; Third-class Labor Medal for 1 collective and 1 individual; Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister for 1 collective.
