According to Ha Noi Customs Department, the pilot mechanism for home use goods transferred through border gates has been implemented since June 2014, it permits home use goods to be managed in My Dinh ICD. There are a lot of enterprises that have realized the advantages from this mechanism.
In 2014, there were only 32 enterprises which implemented Customs procedure with an average of 38 declarations per month. In 2015 there were 88 enterprises with 115 declarations per month; and in only the first 8 months of 2016 there have been 226 enterprises carry out Customs procedures with 121 declarations per month. Currently, there are 319 businesses that have declared at Ha Noi Customs Branch.
The turnover of export and import has also increased every year. If in the first 8 months of 2015, the turnover was $US 49.8 million, in the first 8 months of 2016 is $US 101.7 million (reaching 148.9%)
According to the assessment of Ha Noi Customs Department, this mechanism has facilitated and shortened the time for moving and efficiency in business operations and shows the huge demand of enterprises of home use goods in Ha Noi. Therefore, Ha Noi Customs Department is proposing to allow the application to be continued and expand the mechanism for home use goods transferred through border gates, port to My Dinh ICD and GiaThuy ICD under Ha Noi Customs Department from 2017.
In the coming time the General Department of Customs will organize a meeting with the relevant units and enterprises to assess the efficiency of the pilot mechanism for home use goods transferred through border gate in My Dinh ICD.
