According to Cao Bang Customs Department, in the first months of 2023, there are no outstanding cases, no hot spots for smuggling, and illegal cross-border transportation of goods. This is because the authorities of Vietnam and China regularly strengthen patrol and control at border crossings.

However, since China re-opened the border and gradually eased its pandemic control, production, business, import, and export activities have been gradually restored, and some smugglers took this advantage to carry smuggled goods on a small scale. Main smuggled commodities such as: none de-stemmed and dried leaves of medicinal plants; cattle, poultry, and frozen food (beef, boneless chicken feet, pork leg, pig's ears and nose). In addition, prohibited items such as firecrackers and drugs are illegally transported through the forest to evade the authorities.

Facing the above situation, Cao Bang Customs Department has issued many plans against smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border, counterfeit goods, goods infringing intellectual property, etc..; strengthened to grasp the situation, conduct secret and public patrols and control key routes and areas; enhance the control of smuggling and supervision of all import and export type; coordinated with other agencies: Police, Border Guard to implement professional measures to fight against smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border.

As a result, in the first 6 months of 2023, the unit handled 60 cases. Of these, there are 42 violations of customs law with a fine of VND83.6 million, two cases were taken to court, and 18 violations of customs procedures with a fine of VND41.9 million.
