Cam Ranh International Airport Customs: Ready to welcome increased number of passengers in 2024

VCN - On the first day of the new year 2024, Cam Ranh International Airport Customs Branch (Khanh Hoa Customs Department) completed customs clearance procedures for dozens of immigration flights. The unit is ready to welcome an increased number of passengers this year.

According to Cam Ranh International Airport Customs Branch, at 0:10 a.m. on January 1, 2024, the unit checked in for entry flight number ZE561 from Korea to Cam Ranh International Airport with 175 passengers. After that, many international flights continuously landed at Cam Ranh airport and were cleared quickly according to regulations by the Customs.

Cam Ranh International Airport Customs Branch said that today, the branch is expected to welcome and carry out customs clearance procedures for 55 flights.

Recently, international visitors to Khanh Hoa have been increasing, Cam Ranh International Airport Customs Branch has arranged adequate human resources to carry out procedures for immigration flights in the most convenient and quickest way.

From December 30, 2023 to January 2, 2024 alone, Cam Ranh International Airport welcomed about 312 incoming and outgoing international flights, with about 56,160 passengers.

Of which, there are 159 entry flights, with 28,620 passengers (up 224.49% compared to New Year 2023) and 153 exit flights, with 27,540 passengers (up 218.75% compared to New Year 2023).

On this occasion, many new international routes also operate to Cam Ranh international airport. On December 29, Cambodia Airways officially operated the Phnom Penh - Haikou - Cam Ranh route. According to the plan, this airline will operate the new route with a frequency of 3 flights/week; on January 3, 2024, there will be a Vietjet Air charter flight to Japan.

In 2023, Cam Ranh International Airport Customs Branch has processed procedures for 16,000 flights, with nearly 2.4 million international passengers. In particular, the Korean tourist market grew 1.7 times compared to 2019. Currently, there are 21 airlines opening international flights from Korea, China, Kazakhstan, Thailand, and Taiwan (China). )… to Cam Ranh.

According to the assessment of Cam Ranh International Terminal Joint Stock Company, the recovery of passenger numbers in 2023 is still quite modest compared to the growth milestone of 2019. However, that success has opened up new opportunities, create more confidence for the company to target new markets. Currently, two traditional markets, China and Russia, have begun to recover with many positive signs. Marketing campaigns to new markets such as Central Asian countries also help brand recognition of Khanh Hoa, Nha Trang, and Cam Ranh increasingly clear on the tourism map of Asia and the world.

Khanh Hoa province aims in 2024 to welcome 9 million tourists, including 3 million international visitors.

It is forecast that the increasing number of flights will have potential signs of trafficking and trade fraud with complicated tricks and situations, because smugglers will continue to take advantage of the openness of laws and policies for smuggling and trade fraud.

With the above situation, Cam Ranh International Airport Customs Branch has directed working teams and customs officers at all operational stages to strengthen vigilance for activities showing signs of trade fraud.

To effectively prevent and combat smuggling and trade fraud, Cam Ranh International Airport Customs Branch has developed a number of key tasks and solutions such as continuing to implement directive documents of leaders at all levels on the combat against smuggling and trade fraud;

Promoting communication work on the fight against smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across borders in the management area; coordinating well with state management agencies, airlines, and import-export businesses in the area to grasp information;
