It was in the last days of August 2021, according to the assignment of superiors, 63 officials and a Deputy Director of Binh Duong Customs Department were present in An Binh and Tan Binh wards - "red zone" of Di An city, Binh Duong and Tan Uyen town, Binh Duong province to support people and local authorities to apply measures to prevent the pandemic and stabilize their lives during the implementation of Directive 16/CT-TTg on social distancing.

With the spirit of "fighting the pandemic like fighting the enemy", a determination and the highest spirit, as soon as they were present in the locality, Binh Duong Customs officers quickly coordinated with Covid-19 forces in the area to immediately start working as assigned by local authorities.

In the typical sunny and rainy weather of the South, the image of Customs officers in sweaty uniforms with frontline forces busy performing various jobs such as assisting in taking samples for rapid testing, importing and exporting raw materials, on duty at checkpoints, propagating, classifying and packing necessities to promptly deliver to people in pandemic areas.

Despite facing the risk of infection, with a sense of responsibility, Customs officers still day by day, hour by hour persistently clinging to the area to perform assigned tasks, contributing their small efforts together with local authorities and people to fight against the pandemic.

Deputy Director of Binh Duong Customs Department Nguyen Thanh Binh, who participated in the reinforcement of Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control, said: “We are aware that participating in local pandemic prevention and control is both an honor and a responsibility. The responsibility of each party member and public official, as assigned by the Standing Party Committee of Binh Duong Province, I and the authorities of Tan Uyen Town at all levels have drastically and effectively implemented solutions such as communicating and monitoring pandemic prevention measures, establishing and maintaining disease control points, implementing social distancing, organizing a "3 on-site" production plan, organizing a large-scale screening test in the community to detect and control infections.”

Recalling the days on duty at the pandemic center, Deputy Director of the Customs Branch of Viet Huong Industrial Park Nguyen Tan Doi said: “Those were unforgettable days for me and 28 colleagues assigned to support Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control in An Binh ward, Di An. We have established groups to assist An Binh ward in data entry of more than 42,000 records belonging to the supported subjects; distributed money to more than 34,000 people eligible for support and distributed tens of tons of food to people.

“For more than a month on duty here, the members of the delegation have always supported and helped each other in their work. It is not only comradeship, a colleague but like a brother. They all have the same determination that, together with local forces, to promptly support people in difficulty during the time of isolation, the pandemic will soon be pushed back and people's lives will quickly return to normal."

Civil servants also supported and connected to support more than five tons of food such as fruits and vegetables to give to people in quarantine areas.

In order to encourage the spirit of civil servants, the Board of Directors of Binh Duong Customs Department and leaders of units of the Department regularly visited and encouraged officials to continue promoting the tradition of the unit, overcoming all difficulties to accompany and contribute to the locality to soon control the pandemic, bringing life back to a new normal state.

In addition, provide necessary conditions to ensure the health of the brothers to complete the task, always pay attention to monitor, direct and support to handle problems, so that the staff can confidently carry out the task.

For the public servants who stay to perform their professional duties at the agency, they all try to work double or triple to help comrades sent on anti-pandemic missions. The entire Customs Department of Binh Duong province is determined to successfully complete all three important tasks at this time, which are “Effective pandemic prevention and control at the office; ensure favorable import and export activities in the area; actively participate in pandemic prevention with the locality”.

By September 30, 2021, the reinforcement force of Binh Duong Customs Department to support Tan Binh and An Binh wards had completed the task and returned to the unit to continue their professional duties. The contributions of Binh Duong Customs officers have been recognized, appreciated and commended by local authorities and Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee.
