Ba Ria – Vung Tau: the smuggling at seaport area has been reduced

According to Cai Mep Customs Branch, from 1/1 to 24/5/2018, the unit has detected 3 cases of smuggling, trade fraud in the area of Cai Mep port, decreased by 5 cases over the same period in the year of 2017. In that, there is one case of transit goods under the list of import goods that must have a license from competent authorities for, 282 used speakers and 6 used amplifiers; 1 case of transporting banned import goods for 42.5 tons of plastic scraps, and 1 case of importing goods with incorrect declaration of 5 used automobiles.

Mr. Nguyen Van Danh, Manager of Cai Mep Customs Branch said that, in the first 6 months of 2018, the situation of smuggling and trade fraud in the area has obviously decreased.

To achieve the above result, Cai Mep Customs Branch has implemented preventive measures to minimize the cases of smuggling and commercial fraud occurring in the area. Moreover, enterprises have complied with Customs law.

According to Mr. Danh, in the second half of the year, in order to further control the smuggling situation in the area, the unit will continue to closely monitor the area and coordinate well with the port control group of the Department of Customs. Applying all professional measures to control the areas in which the smuggling and trade frauds can be minimized.

In 2017, the situation of smuggling in Cai Mep port area was complicated. The subjects operated with many different methods and tricks for smuggling and commercial fraud with large quantity and value. Cai Mep Customs Branch has discovered 11 cases related to prohibited goods, high value goods.

Typically, the shipments of refrigeration products, electronics, used household appliances and foreign liquors of Thien Phu An Wood Processing Service Trading Co., Ltd, are valued at over 2 billion; Freight and refrigeration used by Phuc Loc Thinh Trading - Import - Export Service Co., Ltd, worth over 1.4 billion; Used refrigeration products electronic goods of Minh Dat Fashion Co., Ltd, worth over 760 million ... These are all cases showing signs of serious customs violations. Ba Ria-Vung Tau Customs Department has issued a decision for criminal prosecution in these cases for smuggling, and at the same time transfer the dossiers of violation cases to investigation agencies for investigation and handling in accordance with regulations.
