Ba Ria-Vung Tau Customs makes effort to handle nearly 400 containers of backlogged scrap

The 380 containers are mainly scrap, used plastic products and used optical cables with a total weight of nearly 39,500 tons.
These goods arrived atthe seaport more than 90 days ago but have not been received.
The department has conducted inventory and classification of goods, and waited for handling these goods according to Official Letter 6632/TCHQ-GSQL dated October 22, 2019 of the General Department of Vietnam Customs instructing provincial and municipal customs departments to handle backlogged scrap to review and notify to find goods’ owners, conduct inventory and classification, and establish a handling board.
Ba Ria-Vung Tau Customs Department is making great efforts to handle backlogged shipments to quickly conduct site clearance for port operators.
According to regulations, the time limit for receiving goods is 60 days fromthe date of the first notification. Beyond this time limit,if no one comes to receive the goods, the department will handle them according to regulations.
Previously, Cai Mep Seaport Customs Branch notified to find the owners of 53 containers of imported goods which were over the time limit for customs procedures (more than 90 days), of which goods were clay and steel powder.
