The female passenger with her suitcases containing drugs weighing over 4.4 kg

On 26th November 2018, the Anti-Drug Enforcement Team under Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department detected and arrested a female Malaysian passenger illegally transporting drugs via Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Through information collection and analysis, at 20:00 hours on 26th November 2018, at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the Anti-Drug Enforcement Team of Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department led and coordinated with the Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch and other competent forces to inspect the luggage of a 28-year-old Malaysian female passenger named SHARINA BINTI MOHDZAINI coming from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) on flight EK392.

From the results, the Team detected two plastic packs containing a white substance suspected as drugs which were hidden inside the bottom of the passenger’s two suitcases. Customs officers used a drill to take out the substance from the suitcases.

According to the assessment conclusion of Criminal Science Division- Ho Chi Minh City Police, the substance is cocaine.

The Anti-Drug Enforcement Team made a report on arresting SHARINA BINTI MOHDZAINI for the illegal transport of drugs from abroad into Vietnam, and transferred the case for PC 04 Division of Ho Chi Minh City Police for further investigation and handling in accordance with the law.

The total weight of the cocaine in the two plastic packs is about 4.42 kg.

The passenger come from Sao Paulo (Brazil) via Dubai to Ho Chi Minh City .

According to the passenger’s initial explanation, she was carrying these two suitcases for her boyfriend from Brazil to Ho Chi Minh City for the paid amount of US$ 1,200 and was detected and arrested by the Customs force.

Previously, on 28th November 2018, also on the same route, the Anti-Drug Enforcement Team arrested a Malaysian passenger who illegally transported about 4.1kg drugs hidden inside food cans.

The case is being further investigated.
