About 600,000 cigarette packs seized by Customs

Officers of the Customs Enforcement Team of Hai Phong Customs Department inspect the shipment.

On May 4, the representative of the Customs Enforcement Team (under Hai Phong Customs Department) said that the team detected a shipment transported on MP THE MC GINEST ship from Indonesia to Lach Huyen Port (Hai Phong) in Vietnam, showing signs of smuggling.

The team reported to the local customs department’s leader and collaborated with the Economic Police Division to investigate the shipment.

According to the declaration on the bill of lading, the consignor has an address in Bali, Indonesia. The consignee is a company in Cai Lan Industrial Park, Bai Chay Ward, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh. The goods are cigarettes.

The consignee has refused to receive the goods. The goods show suspected signs of violating the law on counterfeit goods in large quantities.

The competent forces conducted a physical inspection of the consignment and detected that all the goods are cigarettes made by foreign countries, with a quantity of 586,000 packs.

The competent agencies have identified that the case has signs of smuggling. Currently, the case is under further investigation.
