According to the General Department of Customs, deploying the plan to continue to thoroughly and strictly implement policies of the Party, Laws of the State and Directions of the Ministry of Finance on preventing and fighting corruption and practicing thrift, and combating wastefulness.
In particular, the plan was enacted to strengthen the roles and responsibilities of the heads of the Customs units at all levels (Departments, sub-departments, teams under sub-departments and equivalent levels) in leading, managing and operating their units to complete the political tasks and contribute to prevent, discover and handle violations on discipline, corruption and wastefulness in the units in charge of management.
In order to effectively implement the above Plan, the General Department of Customs proposed a series of measures such as: thoroughly following the directions and guidance of the Party, the State and the Ministry of Finance and the General Department of Customs; and the Office of the General Department of Customs, Customs News, the Customs Research Institute and subordinate units of the General Department of Customs will carry out the propagation of the contents in the Plan.
It is remarkable that the General Department of Customs issued 8 key measures to effectively prevent corruption and wastefulness including:
The heads of units implement publicly and transparently all their units’ operations;
Implement fully and strictly provisions on financial and staffing management mechanisms;
Developing plans and organizing to perform the mobilization and transfer for civil servants;
Strictly abide by the provisions on transparency of assets and income;
Maintaining, receiving and handling in a timely fashion information via the hotline at the General Department of Customs and local departments;
The heads of the units under the General Department of Customs proactively direct to overcome shortcomings and deficiencies upon the directions of the Central Inspection Commission;
Timely encouraging, praising and recommending levels to commend and reward groups and individuals for outstanding achievements in the prevention and fight against corruption, negative acts and practicing thrift and combating wastefulness in a timely fashion, at the same time promptly and strictly handling negative acts and corruption;

The Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption of the General Department of Customs is responsible for examining the implementation of the Plan to prevent and fight against corruption and wastefulness of the General Department of Customs in 2017.
