350kg of smuggled seahorses seized at Hai Phong port
Seahorses are hidden inside the infringing goods.

On March 30 and 31, the Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department (under Vietnam Customs) coordinated with Hai Phong Customs Department to inspect a shipment transported from Indonesia to Hai Phong Port showing suspicious signs.

The declared consignee is a limited company located in Hai Phong, Vietnam.

The goods declared on the bill of lading are 540 cartons of frozen Muroaji fish.

As a result of the inspection, in addition to the declared items, the Customs force also discovered a large number of seahorses hidden inside the bottom of the container, weighing about 350kg.

The high-value product is listed in the conditional import item and in List II of CITES.

Currently, Customs is investigating the case.
