VCN - The Customs Enforcement Team of Quang Tri Customs Department, in coordination with other agencies, recently apprehended a Laotian national for smuggling 18,000 synthetic drug pills into Vietnam.

Subject and evidence at the scene of the incident.

At approximately 9:40 AM on December 1, 2024, during an investigative operation along National Highway 9 near Lien Hoa Hamlet, Tan Lien Commune, Huong Hoa District, Quang Tri Province, a joint task force intercepted and arrested Ho Vay, a 20-year-old resident of Pa Lo Hamlet, Noong District, Savannakhet Province, Laos.

The operation involved the Drug-related Crime Investigation Division of the Quang Tri Police Department, Dakrong District Police, and the Anti-Drug Enforcement Team of the Quang Tri Customs Department.

At the scene, authorities seized 18,000 tablets suspected to be synthetic drugs, a motorcycle, and 3,200 Lao kip.

Under questioning, Ho Vay admitted to being hired to transport the synthetic drug pills from Noong District, Savannakhet Province, Laos, to Khe Sanh Town, Huong Hoa District, Vietnam.

Authorities are continuing their investigation and expanding the case to uncover additional details and any potential accomplices.
