At the meeting with Microsoft Vietnam, Deputy Director General Tran Duc Hung emphasized the important role of digital transformation in Customs reform and modernization.
Accordingly, digital transformation not only helps automate goods inspection and classification processes but also optimizes information processing, minimizing time and costs for businesses and the State agencies.
Deputy Director General Tran Duc Hung said that advanced technology solutions such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, blockchain and the Internet of Things (IoT) have brought about remarkable achievements to the Customs industry.
AI technology supports predicting frauds, analyzing cargo information and making smart decisions in cargo classification. Big data provides early warnings and detects risks during customs clearance.
Additionally, digital transformation also opens up opportunities for international cooperation, helping Vietnam Customs connect and receive information from foreign customs administrations, thereby improving the effectiveness of cross-border transaction control.
The cooperation with global technology corporations such as Microsoft is an opportunity for the Customs industry to learn, access and apply advanced technology in management.
In the Development Strategy by 2030, the General Department of Vietnam Customs aims to build a paperless customs system, and process procedures on a digital platform. This is a top priority to improve the efficiency of Customs management and operations.
The Deputy Director General hoped that through the meeting with Microsoft Vietnam, units under the General Department of Vietnam Customs will better understand the application of modern technology in the customs control.
Mr. Bach Thanh Tung- Microsoft Vietnam’s senior official in charge of public administration, hoped that the meeting will bring a new perspective to officers of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, especially in applying technology to technical operations.
