Tackle drug trafficking rings from the Golden Triangle

In recent days, the fight against of transactional drug cases by Customs and Police authorities has been paid attention to by th public. Team 6 has contributed to achievements.

A representative of Team 6 told Customs News that the team has taken measures to encourage people to denounce crimes.

Team 6 and relevant authorities detected a drug trafficking ring by air from the Golden Triangle through Cambodia to Vietnam and then transporting to Taiwan.

Team 6 asked the leader of the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department to make action plan No.HK668 to fight this ring.

The drug trafficking ring bought drugs from the Golden Triangle and transported them to Cambodia and concealed the drugs in secondhand machineries and illegally transported them across Tay Ninh Border Gate to HCM City.

Smugglers have hidden drugs in goods shipments and colluded with Vietnamese suspects to transport goods to Taiwan via express delivery services by air.

Team 6 coordinated with the Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes (C04), Binh Chanh District Police, Nha Be District Police to combat this ring.

On May, 19, the working team arrested two suspects who illegally transported 30kgs Ketamine. Expanding the investigation, authorities seized 150 kg drugs in electric motors and 10 kg in automatic vacuum cleaners in HCM City and 90 kg of drugs stashed in pig innards.

The total amount of drugs seized in this action plan is up to 280kg worth some VND300 billion.

Participate in Action Plan HC421

On April 6, the leader of the General Department of Vietnam Customs assigned the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department, Ha Noi Customs Department, to work with C04 to establish action plan HC421 led by Ha Noi Customs Department. The plan was participated in by the Anti- drug Enforcement Team, Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch, Division 7 and Division.8 (under C04), Team 5 and Team 6.

As a member of Action plan HC421, Team 6 coordinated with authorities to combat suspects in the illegal drug trafficking ring from the EU to Vietnam. In this case, smugglers transported drugs from the EU to Noi Bai International Airport and then shipped them to HCM city and Binh Duong.

Police arrested 13 suspects and seized 64,552 kg synthetic drugs in southern provinces.

In addition, Team 6 coordinated with other forces to tackle a drug trafficking ring from Laos to Vietnam and seized tens of kilograms of drugs. Authorities also seized a military pistol and nine bullets.

In recent months, Team 6 has coordinated with authorities to tackle three large cases and arrested many suspects worth hundreds of billions of dong, busting a military weapon trafficking ring.

The achievements of Team 6 have made an important contribution to affirming the role of the Customs sector as one of the four key forces in the fight against drug crimes.
