Quang Tri Customs: Efforts to reduce cargo clearance time and costs

Import-export turnover increased by 29.24%

Right from the beginning of 2024, Quang Tri Customs has implemented a work program with the theme "Promoting internal strength - Reform - Discipline - Professionalism" associated with the Customs industry's theme of "Solidarity - Discipline - Creativity and Determination to promote digital transformation in the Customs sector". Accordingly, the unit has promoted administrative procedure reform, cutting costs, and time and creating convenience for people and businesses in import, export, migration and transit activities.

Accordingly, the unit has proactively proposed to upgrade the import and export vehicle management system to ensure customs management, facilitating people and businesses, towards a digital Customs model. The transport vehicle on entry and exit management system for Hoanh Son Group Joint Stock Company importing coal products at La Lay Border Gate Customs Branch has been implemented effectively since the end of 2023. Up to now, the system is operating stably and will continue to be improved for application at border gates for businesses, thereby helping businesses reduce clearance time and costs.

Quang Tri Customs Department successfully organized Business Dialogue Conference 2024 with the participation of 20 import-export businesses, warehouse, yard and port businesses in the area to promptly update new regulations, as well as grasp the production and business situation of enterprises to facilitate the process of customs procedures, improving voluntary compliance with the law of enterprises. Through dialogue, the unit listened and promptly answered problems within its authority, and synthesized difficulties and problems beyond its authority to propose to the Provincial People's Committee and the General Department of Vietnam Customs for support enterprise.

In the first four months of 2024, Quang Tri Customs Department completed and exceeded assigned targets. The unit's revenue reached VND335.49 billion, reaching 35.32% of the target assigned by the Ministry of Finance (VND950 billion); import-export turnover through the area reached nearly US$332.56 million, growing 29.24% over the same period in 2023.

Transit activities continue to be vibrant, with the value of goods in transit reaching nearly US$2.35 billion, an increase of 6.21%, with a total weight of goods reaching more than 979.9 thousand tons, a growth of 6.69% compared to the same period in 2023.

Attach the responsibility of the leader to the task of revenue collection

To contribute to the socio-economic development of the province and accomplish the revenue collection task, the collective leaders, officers, civil servants and workers of Quang Tri Customs Department have set goals that needed to be deployed, with key solution groups.

Accordingly, taking the criteria of completing revenue collection tasks as the main criteria to evaluate the completion of tasks of branches and Branch Directors on a monthly and quarterly basis; attach the responsibility of the leader to the task of revenue collection. At the same time, arrange qualified civil servants to meet job position requirements; and strictly implement discipline and administrative discipline in performing public duties. Furthermore, enhances the spirit of solidarity and coordination in task performance within the industry and outside the Customs industry.

Along with that, the unit continues to implement solutions to reform administrative procedures and modernize customs work to shorten clearance time for goods, improve the business environment, and enhance national competitiveness. Furthermore, promoting and applying initiatives of officials and civil servants in the unit that have been recognized by competent authorities to carry out tasks; closely coordinating with banks to ensure the smoothness of electronic tax payment 24/7 system to help taxpayers pay taxes anytime and anywhere.
