Preliminary assessment of Vietnam international merchandise trade performance in the first half of June, 2019

Vietnam‘s trade-in-goods from January to the first half of June of 2019 totaled US dollars 222.45 billion in value terms. It posted a growth of 8.3% (equivalent to USD 16.97 billion) from the same period of the previous year

In the view of FDI traders, the value of exportation and importation in the first half of June reached USD 12.42 billion, down by 17.7% as compared to the second half of May 2019. Therefore, from January to June 15th of 2019, the total value of FDI merchandise trade went up 6.2% to US dollar 140.51 billion.

Export:

When compared with the second half of May-2019, export of the first half of June was down by 16.5%, mostly as a result of the climb-down registered in telephone, mobile phone and part thereof (down by 14.4% - USD 289 million); computers, electrical products and part thereof (down by 14.7% - USD 245 million); machine tools and equipments (down by 21.3% - USD 183 million); textiles and garments (down by 10% - USD 155 million)…

Import:

In the first half of June 2019, import was down by 16.1% when compared with the second half of May, mainly reflecting the shrunk of machine, equipment, tools and instruments (down by 13% - USD 207 million);computer, electrical products, spare-parts and components thereof (down by 7.6% - USD 157 million); telephones, mobile phones and part thereof (down by 21.1% - USD 113 million); fabrics (down by 13.5% - USD 90 million); chemicals (down by 24.6% - USD 62 million)…
