Highlights
1. According to trade statistics of Vietnam Customs, in December of 2023, a 0.3% upwards in total external merchandise turnover of Vietnam was recorded as compared to the result of the last month. Exports went up 1.1%, to US dollars 31.47 billion and imports decreased 0.6%, to US dollars 29.40billion in terms of month-on-month basis. As a result, there was a US dollars 2.06 billion surplus in Vietnam’s trade balance in this month.

1. According to trade statistics of Vietnam Customs, in May of 2023, a 1.9% upwards in total external merchandise turnover of Vietnam was recorded as compared to the result of the last month. Exports went up 0.6%, to US dollars 28.04 billion and imports increased 3.3%, to US dollars 26.04 billion in terms of month-on-month basis. As a result, there was a US dollars 2.01 billion surplus in Vietnam’s trade balance in this month.

The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the second half of January, 2022 the total Vietnam’s exports of US dollars 17.68 billion and imports of nearly US dollars 14.65 billion resulted in a trade surplus of US dollars 3.03 billion. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the second half of January was over US dollars 32.34 billion, up by 16.6% as compared to the first half of January-2022. Furthermore, in thr first month of 2022, Vietnam was in trade surplus of USD 1.4 billion.

According to trade statistics of Vietnam Customs, in December 2021, a 6.0% upwards in total external merchandise turnover of Vietnam was recorded as compared to the result of November 2021. Exports went up 8.5 %, to USD 34.59 billion and imports increased 3.3 %, to USD 31.26 billion in terms of month-on- month basis. As a result, there was a USD 2.97 billion surplus in Vietnam’s trade balance in this month.

The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the first half (01-15/8/2021) of August-2021, Vietnam’s total exports of US dollars 11.37 billion and imports of US dollars 12.73 billion resulted in a trade deficit of nearly US dollars 1.36 billion. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the first half of August was US dollars 24.1 billion, down by 18.1% as compared to the second half of July-2021.

As a result, there was a USD 455 million deficit in Vietnam’s trade balance in this month.

Exports went down 10.5 %, to USD 26.55 billion and imports decreased 2.4%, to USD 27.78 billion in terms of month-on- month basis. As a result, there was a USD 1.22 billion deficit in Vietnam’s trade balance in this month.

The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the second half of August, 2021 the total Vietnam’s exports of US dollars 15.87 billion and imports of nearly US dollars 14.62 billion resulted in a trade surplus of US dollars 1.25 billion. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the second half of August was over US dollars 30.49 billion, up by 26.5% as compared to the first half of August-2021. Furthermore, in the first 8 months of 2021, Vietnam was in trade deficit of USD 2.63 billion.

Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the first half of February was US dollars 19.18 billion, down by 33.3% as compared to the second half of January-2021.
