The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the first half (01-15/9/2024) of September-2024, Vietnam’s total exports of US dollars 14 billion and imports of US dollars 14.55 billion resulted in a trade deficit of nearly US dollars 546 million. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the first half of September was US dollars 28.55 billion, down by 24.9% as compared to the second half of August-2024.

Vietnam‘s trade-in-goods from January to the first half of September of 2024 totaled US dollars 540.72 billion in value terms. It posted an increase of 15.9% (equivalent to USD 74.26 billion) from the same period of previous year. In which, the total merchandise exports value was up by 14.8% to nearly US dollars 279.38 billion and the total merchandise imports value was up by 17.2%, to US dollars 261.34 billion.

In the view of FDI traders, the value of exportation and importation from January to the first half of September of 2024 reached USD 366.69 billion, up by 14.4% as compared to the same period of last year.

Export:

When compared with the second half of August-2024, export of first half of September decreased by 32.5%, mostly as a result of the downturn registered in computer electrical products and part thereof (down by 31.2% - USD 1.17 billion); telephone, mobile phones and part thereof (down by 23.5% - 582 million); machine, tools and euipments (down by 18.4% - USD 494 million)…

Import:

In the first half of September 2024, import decreased by 15.8% when compared with the second half of August, mainly reflecting the down turm in machine, tools equipments (down by 20.5% - USD 467 million); coals (down by 44.7% - USD 175 million).
