Nghe An Customs Department said mineral products carrying out export procedures through border gates and ports in Nghe An province are mainly processed white limestone, super fine white limestone powder and clinker originated in Quy Hop district, Tan Ky. The enterprises mainly manufacture and process products from super fine white stone powder and ashlar paving stones. This is the main mineral export group that brought revenue to the State budget for the Nghe An Customs Department.
However, due to the influence of the Covid-19 pandemic, since the beginning of the year, consumption markets in countries such as China, Iran, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Middle East countries have declined, leading to a fall in sales orders of businesses were also cancelled or delayed. From the beginning of the year until now, the export turnover of this group of goods only reached $26.07 million, down by more than $15 million over the same period in 2019 (a decrease of nearly 40%).
In the past, Quy Hop district had about 20 enterprises producing and exporting mineral products to countries like China, Iran, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Middle East countries, but now, due to the pandemic, there are only four enterprises that have manufactured perfunctorily and are exporting this product with a small number of contracts that were signed before to India and Hong Kong. From the beginning of the year until now, the number of orders newly signed with foreign partners by mineral export production enterprises in Nghe An is hardly arisen.
To help enterprises manufacturing and exporting mineral overcome difficulties, Nghe An Customs Department is making efforts to reform and simplify administrative procedures, promote customs modernisation, and apply information technology to professional stages: control and supervision of import and export goods and tax collection to facilitate businesses.
In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic continuing to develop complicatedly, directly affecting import-export activities and mineral products through Nghe An, the representative of the Nghe An Customs Department said that, in the coming time, the unit would continue to implement synchronous solutions to support businesses; closely follow the development of the pandemic to advise and propose to competent authorities to solve problems and problems to cooperate with businesses in promoting import and export activities across the area, increasing revenues collection, strive to complete assigned tasks.
