Lang Son: Strengthen pandemic prevention measures and facilitate import – export activities
According to Hoang Van Quyet, Deputy Director of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Economic Zone Authority, due to the complex developments of Covid-19 in the country, especially when Lang Son province has seen a case of positive infection with SARS-CoV- 2 and the Chinese side tighten control of health care for people and goods across the border. Therefore, in recent days, at Huu Nghi international border gate and other border gates in the area, on average, there are more than 500 vehicles transporting backlogged export goods daily which could not implement cargo clearance. Import and export activities of goods through border gates in the area in recent days have decreased. Specifically, in the first seven months of 2020, the total import-export turnover through the border gates exceeded $860 million, down about 30% compared to the same period in 2019.

To overcome this situation, at physical inspection and working with agencies and forces relating to the import and export situation of goods and Covid-19 pandemic prevention at Huu Nghi international border gate on August 10, Vice Chairman of People's Committee of Lang Son province, Duong Xuan Huyen, said that in the future, authorities of the province should continue to implement solutions to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, and at the same time facilitate import and export activities.
Dong Dang - Lang Son Economic Zone Authority, border defence forces and medical quarantine agencies need to continue to strictly implement the medical control process for all drivers, owners of goods entering and leaving area of Huu Nghi international border gate and other border gates in the province.
To facilitate the import and export of goods and avoid congestion of goods at the border gates, Duong Xuan Huyen emphasised relevant authorities should continue to meet for talks with the Chinese forces to agree on measures of import and export goods supervision between the two sides, especially opening hours for implementing customs clearance through Huu Nghi international border gate, as well as Tan Thanh border gate and Chi Ma border gate.
At the same time, units needed to implement solutions to attract more businesses to implement import and export goods through the province. Huyen requested the Lang Son Customs Department direct forces at the border to facilitate clearance procedure for exported goods; closely monitoring the origin of import and export goods. The Border Defence force needed to continue to drastically implement border control measures and prevent illegal entry into the area.
