Lang Son: Extending working hours, facilitating exporting agricultural products

VCN - According to assessments, at this time, Tan Thanh Border Gate and Huu Nghi International Border Gate are two border gates that have a large number of agricultural products and fresh fruits cleared every day. The statistics of Lang Son Customs Department showed that, from the beginning of the year until now (until May 15), the total turnover of import and export goods through Lang Son province of all types of import and export (business, transit, border gate transfer, independent transportation) reached over US$20.1 billion. At the same time, agricultural products and fresh fruits in most provinces across the country have begun to be harvested. Therefore, the amount of these goods being moved to the border gate to register for export procedures has increased. In particular, currently, border gate customs branches in Lang Son area are receiving and handling clearance procedures for several goods such as mango, jackfruit, watermelon, durian, dragon fruit, tapioca starch, longan, lychee... average of about 8,000 - 10,000 tons/day.

Through grasping the situation and according to representatives of the Customs authority at Huu Nghi International Border Gate and Tan Thanh Border Gate, the Customs authority has arranged civil servants to work on Saturdays and Sundays to ensure that a large number of agricultural products and fresh fruits are cleared within the same day.

In addition, units and competent forces at the border gate also increased exchanges and agreed with the Chinese side to extend clearance time up to 8PM, some border gates even extended to 9PM to improve the efficiency of cargo clearance…

Talking to reporters, representatives of Tan Thanh Customs Branch and Huu Nghi Border Gate Customs Branch said that for exported agricultural products, the branch has proactively regulated channeling and worked with agencies managing yards to set up separate zones, make the most of border gate opening time, and quickly carrying out clearance procedure for cargo trucks that have completed procedures.

In particular, there are days when the volume of goods arriving at the border gate soared, units also request the Chinese side to extend clearance time by 1 or 2 hours depending on the actual situation, so that goods can be cleared quickly.
