Import-export turnover of goods through Tan Thanh border gate grow sharply

VCN – According to the statistics of Tan Thanh Customs Branch (Lang Son Customs Department), in the first two months of 2023, the unit has received and handled customs procedures for 7,429 sets of customs dossiers, an increase of 1457.4% over the same period in 2022 with the total import-export turnover achieved US$ 69,822,566, rising to 1,183.4% compared to the previous year.

Exported agricultural products and fresh fruits accounted for 90%

With the characteristic of being a road border gate that exports mainly fruits, agricultural products and fresh fruits of Vietnam to China, such as watermelon, dragon fruit, lychee, banana, mango, and jackfruit..., exportation through Tan Thanh border gate accounted for 90% of the total import-export turnover. Therefore, every year during the season, the amount of goods arriving at the Tan Thanh border gate is relatively large, causing local congestion of trucks carrying export goods.

According to Mr. Phung Van Ba, Deputy Manager of Tan Thanh Customs Branch, to create maximum conditions for agricultural products and fresh fruits to be exported smoothly, the unit always identifies the business community as a reliable partner accompanying to develop. In addition, the unit also actively and synchronously implemented solutions to meet the goal of increasing the capacity of clearance for export goods at Tan Thanh border gate, promoting administrative reform, and regularly coordinating with competent forces: border management centre, border guard, yard business ... to facilitate import and export activities of goods through the border gate and comply with regulations. In particular, to remove difficulties and obstacles, the unit always promptly guides and answers problems for businesses while carrying out customs procedures.

Along with the solutions, Tan Thanh Customs also regularly exchanges with Chinese authorities to grasp information and situation related to goods management and pandemic prevention to timely warn Vietnamese businesses to be proactive and flexible in import and export activities, helping to minimize cost and time when carrying out clearance activities at border gates, especially for agricultural export products, Mr. Phung Van Ba said.

With the drastic implementation of solutions, the statistics showed that, from the beginning of the year until now, there were 104 enterprises registered to participate in the import and export procedures of goods through the Tan Thanh border gate. As a result, along with the efforts of enterprises, Tan Thanh Customs received and completed procedures for 7,429 declarations, an increase of 1457.4% over the same period in 2022, with a total import-export turnover of US$ 69,822,566, an increase of 1,183 .4% over the same period in 2022.

Regarding revenue collection work, the unit also collected and paid nearly VND3.2 billion to the state budget, equaling 1.6% of the assigned target (VND198 billion), an increase of 244.4% compared to the same period in 2022. In addition, Tan Thanh Customs has also supported collecting fees following Decision No. 01/2019/NQ-HDND in Lang Son province, reaching over VND 8.2 billion, an increase of 1,339.2% compared to the same period in 2022.

Many key solutions

The remarkable results in the year's first two months showed that import and export activities through the Tan Thanh border gate, especially agricultural products, show strong signs of recovery.

To complete the assigned tasks in 2023, right from the beginning of the year, Tan Thanh Customs has set many key solutions. Accordingly, there is a solution for creating all the most favourable conditions for enterprises and individuals engaging in import-export activities; accompanying, and sharing difficulties, considering enterprises as partners - cooperation; directly removing difficulties and obstacles arising when carrying out customs procedures based on ensuring publicity, transparency and objectivity. At the same time, ensuring the correct implementation of law provisions, the process of customs procedures, and meeting the requirements of state management of customs in the management area is always a task that Tan Thanh Customs pays attention to and promotes.

In addition, to fulfill the state revenue collection and payment target, Tan Thanh Customs has been implementing synchronous solutions and plans developed for each professional field, closely monitoring the revenue collection situation, analyzing and predicting the factors affecting the state revenue. Furthermore, strictly implement regulations on strengthening leadership in the management of import and export of goods and the prevention and fight against corruption and negativity at border gates. Furthermore, performing administrative reform, customs modernization and online public services, regularly capturing information to answer directly to the customs declarant, facilitating import-export activities, and increasing the capacity of cargo clearance, Mr. Phung Van Ba said.

Moreover, implementing solutions to ensure supervision and management of import and export goods; means of transport on exit and entry following regulations; collecting information, and assessing subjects' risks under customs supervision to deploy appropriate supervision methods to facilitate import and export activities. Continuing to deploy and apply fully and effectively digital border gate platform in customs management and supervision. Implementing management and supervision of the place of gathering, inspection and supervision of import and export goods. Strictly controlling the tonnage of vehicles transporting import and export goods under the direction of General Department of Vietnam Customs on strengthening the control of overloaded and overweight vehicles transporting goods subject to customs supervision.

At the same time, coordinating with competent forces at the border gate to regularly grasp information about changes, new policies and regulations of the Chinese authority to promptly inform to business community to know, be proactive and have business plans, reducing costs and time when carrying out clearance procedures.
