Hung Yen Customs helps businesses "to have a stable life"

VCN - The reforms and facilitation of the Hung Yen Customs Branch (Hai Phong Customs Department) significantly contribute to helping businesses accelerate their business expansion. That is one recorded comment when we interacted with the business community in Hung Yen, typically TOTO Vietnam Co., Ltd.

From TOTO's "nesting" story

One day at the end of September, we visited the porcelain factory of TOTO Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Hung Yen (Thang Long II Industrial Park, My Hao town, Hung Yen) and witnessed the urgent and busy production atmosphere.

In the yard, container trucks were parked neatly to prepare to carry export goods. Currently, the Company's factories in Hung Yen import and export about 1,700 containers, with a total turnover of about US$80 million each year.

More than 11 o'clock, when completing the final procedures for export shipments to the United States and many other important markets, Mrs. Pham Khanh Ngoc, who is in charge of import and export of TOTO Vietnam Co., Ltd. had time to share with us about the Company's activities.

“Despite the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic or the new normal status, the Company is still operating at full capacity to ensure the supply of goods to partners. The Company's main export markets are the United States, Japan, China, Taiwan (China)... Those are fastidious markets that require quality and strict delivery time based on the contract. Therefore, our manufacture, import and export activities must be exact in every centimeter to meet customers' requirements, " Mrs. Pham Khanh Ngoc said.

In order to ensure that progress, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, besides the efforts of businesses, the representative of TOTO Vietnam Co., Ltd. highly appreciated the support of the local government and departments of Hung Yen province, especially the Hung Yen Customs Branch.

"Hung Yen Customs Branch has many specific and practical solutions to support businesses, always considering businesses as partners to accompany. For example, since TOTO started to build the factory, it has been supported by the Branch in importing machinery and equipment and making the list of duty-free goods. Moreover, when putting into production, importing and exporting goods and having problems arise during customs procedures, we will directly contact the Branch and always receive guidance. Besides, when new regulations are issued, the Branch promptly disseminates them to the business community. In particular, the Branch maintains a group on the Zalo (a social network) for regular interaction between leaders and officials of the unit and import-export enterprises in the area, so the implementation of procedures at Hung Yen Customs Branch is perfect", Mrs Pham Khanh Ngoc commented.

Furthermore, Mrs Pham Khanh Ngoc shared that thanks to the facilitation of the Hung Yen Customs Branch, which was an essential motivation for TOTO Vietnam Co., Ltd. to expand production and business activities in Hung Yen earlier compared to the plan. The Company's goal was to turn these local factories into the most significant porcelain production "bases" for TOTO Group globally.

In July of 2022, the Company inaugurated the second factory in Hung Yen (4th in Vietnam) with a total investment capital of nearly US$126 million. At the same time, they were starting the construction of the third factory in this locality with an investment capital of about US$160 million. When all three factories in Hung Yen come into operation (total investment of nearly US$380 million), it would create jobs for more than 5,000 labors.

Effectiveness from the companionship

Talking about implementing the Customs-Business partnership and trade facilitation solutions in general, the Manager of Hung Yen Customs Branch, Hoang Ngoc Nhuy said the unit's biggest wish was to understand the needs and provide practical support and solutions for businesses. Therefore, the solutions given must be measured by the effectiveness of the business satisfaction and the growth of production, business, import and export activities in the area.

The specific solutions have been implemented by the Branch, including continuing to sign the Agreement on developing the Customs-Business partnership between Hai Phong Customs Department with businesses that carry out procedures at the Branch. As a result, as of September 15, 2022, the Hung Yen Customs Branch has signed 1,554 contracts with enterprises and continues to sign contracts with new businesses.

"In addition, the Branch has launched many communication channels such as organizing dialogue and disseminating new policies, laws and regulations to businesses practically and effectively. Currently, there are more than 500 representatives of businesses interacting with the Branch daily through online forms. Thereby, the Hung Yen Customs Branch has just disseminated the law, new documents and regulations to help businesses comply with the law; timely grasp information, remove difficulties and obstacles of enterprises, thus contributing to bringing the Customs - Business partnership into reality", Manager Hoang Ngoc Nhuy said.
