Handle 10,616 cases of smuggling and violation in Customs field

According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, by the end of August, the whole sector detected, seized and handled 10,616 cases of violations, with the total value of goods in those cases being nearly 648 billion VND, increased by 5.93% in number of cases and 58% of the value of goods over the same period of 2017.
Those cases were concentrated in four main areas: smuggling goods and illegal transport of cross-border ; drugs; administrative violations; intellectual property infringement, counterfeit goods
Notably, there were 635 cases of smuggling and illegal transport of goods across borders. The number of cases in this field decreased slightly (by 31 cases) over the same period, but the total value of exhibits increased up to 187.43%, and reached nearly 260 billion VND.

Regarding to the routes by sea and road, the number of violations continued to increase while the cases seized via air traffic tended to decrease.
Specifically, the sea route has the largest number of detected, seized and handled with 5,780 cases, increased by 10.5%; road has 4,410 cases, increased by 2.68%.
Meanwhile, the airline has only 426 cases, decreased by 14.11%. Although the number of cases has decreased, however, the situation of drug transportation via airline is very complicated, especially in Tan Son Nhat Airport.
Consecutively in July and August, the Customs force timely detected and arrested over tens of violation cases of drugs at Tan Son Nhat airport, seized tens of kilograms of drugs.
