Hai Phong Customs handles 39.5 billion VND of tax debt

According to Hai Phong Customs Department, until the end of the first quarter, the Department collected and handled more than 39.5 billion VND of tax debt, equivalent to more than 86% of the target assigned by the General Department of Vietnam Customs in 2019.
From the beginning of the year, the Department has taken measures to review, report, urge and enforce the collection of tax debts.
Accordingly, Hai Phong Customs has focused on controlling recoverable tax debt, tax debt of overdue declarations that were implemented Custom clearance on December 31, 2018.
It has also reviewed and gathered statistics for cases that were classified from the recoverable tax debt group to irrecoverable tax debt group in 2019 and report to the General Department of Vietnam Customs to exclude them from the assigned targets.

In addition, it has inspected and analysed cases arising from shortcomings in collecting tax debt to promptly report to the General Department of Vietnam Customs for instruction.
In order to accomplish the assigned task of collecting and handling overdue tax debts in 2019, the Hai Phong Customs Department’s leader requested Customs branches and Post-clearance audit branches to inspect and apply enforcement methods to collect tax debts, classify and control to prevent new tax debts in 2019.
