The local customs department released a report on the imports and exports of Hai Phong city in August.

In a report, the local customs department said exports rose by 34.3% year-on-year to roughly US$4.97 billion.

Exports increased by 17% from a year ago to about US$4.47 billion.

In the month, imports of automobiles, auto parts, motorcycle spare parts, petroleum products, alcohol, iron and steel and cosmetics saw positive growth compared with the previous year.

Imports of automobiles, auto parts rocketed to around US$85.91 million and US$92.69 million, respectively.

Other imports, such as petroleum products and iron and steel also saw surges in their imports.

Local customs officials collected tariffs worth VND5,565.52 billion in August.

The revenue of Hai Phong area alone was VND4,767.6 billion.

As of end August, Hai Phong Customs department collected VND44,556 billion, a rise of 26.6% compared with the previous year. The figure was equal to 77% of the all-year target by the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
