Deputy Director General Au Anh Tuan chaired a meeting with units on completing the draft Decree and building a system for managing imports and exports traded via e-commerce.

In order to achieve the goal, Deputy Director General Au Anh Tuan chaired a meeting on the progress of completing the draft Decree on managing imports and exports traded via e-commerce and contents related to building an information technology system and hardware infrastructure for implementation when the Decree is issued.

Representatives of departments under the General Department of Vietnam Customs such as: Customs Control and Supervision Department, Import-Export Duty Department, Risk Management Department, Customs Information Technology and Statistics Department, Legal Department and representatives of some Customs Departments discussed on contents related to the issue.

Representatives of provincial and municipal customs departments raised problems in management, especially in the increasing scale of this new type of transaction.

Notably, in the context of the information technology infrastructure of the Customs industry facing overload phenomena in early 2024, the early completion of the system and issuance of the Decree are urgent requirements.

Deputy Director General Au Anh Tuan said that the urgent requirement is to promptly build the Management System for imports and exports traded via e-commerce and prepare the information technology infrastructure for implementation as soon as the Decree is issued.

However, the building of the system in the current period also faces many difficulties due to fund and procedures related to public investment that often take a long time, not meeting progress under the Government's requirements.

Many opinions raised about calling for support from the business community, especially enterprises specializing in information technology, as well as solutions on socialization in current conditions.

Deputy Director General Au Anh Tuan affirmed the determination of the Customs industry to build a modern, advanced Management System in line with the current trend of technology development.

It is necessary to effectively manage cross-border e-commerce activities and promote this form of trade to develop in the future.
